Today, 6th November 2021, the people of Anambra will go to the polls to elect a new governor. In this year’s election, there are 18 “all-male” candidates with 7 females as deputies.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there are over 2.52 million registered voters in the state. COP26: Flooding, Food Scarcity, Cholera, Insecurity; Climate Change Takes on Deeper Significance For Nigeria
Climate change continues to be an essential issue of discourse globally. As part of efforts toward ensuring that there are actions toward achieving the SDG 13, combating climate change and its impact, world leaders are meeting at Glasgow for the 2021 Climate Change Conference (COP26), which got underway on Sunday 31st October.
This year’s Conference of Parties (COP) is the 26th edition of the annual event which started in 1995. In 2020, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The COP brings together signatories of the United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC) every year to discuss how to address the climate change menace.

Cassava, Yam, Maize rank top ten crops produced in Nigeria BUT not top 10 crops exported
According to data from Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), none of the top ten crops produced in Nigeria is among the top ten agricultural products exported in Nigeria.
Cassava tops other crops in annual production in 2019 with 59.2 million tonnes of cassava produced in 2019 according to Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) data. Of this quantity, only 182 tonnes were exported from the country, generating a meagre revenue of $101 thousand.
Yam is second on the list of top crops produced in Nigeria. 50.1 million tonnes was produced in 2019 out of which zero was exported. All 50.1 million tonnes were consumed locally.[Read more]
