Special Invitation to Election Data Lab 1.0: Understanding and Interpreting Election Results and Statistics
Dear Readers,
We are pleased to invite you to the inaugural session of the Dataphyte Academy Election Data Lab, a new monthly learning series designed to strengthen public understanding of election data and support informed civic engagement ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 General Elections.
The first session, Election Data Lab 1.0, is scheduled for Saturday, 13th June 2026, at 10:00 AM (WAT) and will be held online via Zoom.
As election conversations begin to shape the political landscape, the ability to accurately interpret election results and statistics is becoming increasingly important. This session is designed to help participants understand how election data is generated, analysed, and communicated, enabling them to draw informed conclusions from election outcomes and trends.
Participants will be introduced to key concepts and practical approaches for interpreting election results, identifying patterns, and understanding the stories behind the numbers. Whether you are a journalist, researcher, student, civil society actor, political observer, or an interested citizen, this session will provide valuable insights into making sense of electoral data.
Key focus areas include:
Understanding vote totals and percentages
Interpreting voter turnout rates and their significance
Analysing margins of victory and electoral competitiveness
Identifying patterns and trends in election results
Learn infographic design for election
The workshop will be held online via Zoom, attendance is free, and participants will have the opportunity to engage with election data concepts in a practical and accessible learning environment.
